With the finals series in the balance, the Rockhampton Panthers and the Gladstone Suns will play out what could be a crucial fixture.

Locked in a battle for the fourth position the Suns and Panthers sit two points away from each other with the Rocky squad holding the advantage.

But the two sides will clash this weekend with the winner gaining the clear advantage on the AFL Capricornia ladder.

The Panthers were triumphant on the weekend over the Brothers Kangaroos winning 18.13 (121) – 5.10 (40).

That win could boost their momentum heading into the major clash with the Suns, however Gladstone will have their confidence booming too.

The Suns took on local rivals BITS Saints, who currently sit second on the ladder, and knocked them off in the Gladstone derby.

13.9 (87) to 13.6 (84) with the side coming from behind and bringing home the win with a 21 point fourth quarter.

The huge win over their rivals has reignited their hopes for a top four finish with the Panthers, and even the Glenmore Bulls, now wary of what the Suns can produce.

Whoever wins that match will be in the driver’s seat for fourth place in what feels like a decisive game.

In other matches, the aforementioned Glenmore Bulls will face off against the Brothers Kangaroos.

A win for the Bulls will inch them extremely close to the second-placed BITS Saints.

Glenmore lost to the minor-premiership winning Yeppoon Swans 19.7 (121) – 40 (6.4).

But that will do little to rattle the confidence of the Bulls who are laser focused on making a second consecutive grand final appearance.

The Saints’ loss to the Suns could go a long way in that with the Glenmore squad narrowing in on the top Gladstone team.

A loss to the luckless Kangaroos would be detrimental to the Glenmore’s top two challenge.

And in the final game of the round the BITS Saints will have to contend with the table-topping Yeppoon Swans.

The Swans wrapped up another minor-premiership with that victory over the Bulls and will be eyeing clearing another season undefeated.

In the women’s competition the Yeppoon Swans will look to wrap up their minor premiership by defeating the BITS Saints.

The Saints really need to find an answer to the Swans if they are to keep track with the Brothers Kangaroos who sit in fourth currently.

The Kangaroos will face no easy task this weekend either however as they match up against the Glenmore Bulls.

The Bulls are second and after being knocked off by the Swans 6.6 (42) – 3.0 (18), they will be fired up to win big this weekend.

And finally the Gladstone Suns take on the Rockhampton Panthers with both sides eager to move up the table.

The Panthers need to win to keep within touching distance of the Bulls while the Suns, after defeating their local rivals last week, could make a late charge for the finals.
