The Rugby Capricornia Championship continued on the weekend with the tenth round providing some perfect 10 performances, unfortunately for the Gladstone Goats they were on the end of one.
Three games led to three blowouts in the A Grade competition with Dawson Valley Drovers, Rockhampton Brothers and the Frenchville Pioneers all scoring huge wins.
After a bag of mixed results the Rockhampton Brothers found a pot of gold when they matched up against old rivals and 2020 grand final opponents the Gladstone Goats.
The GRUFCs were put to the sword by the Rockhampton squad who won 82-23 in one of the biggest scores this year.
The 105-point match saw 11 different try scorers with Brothers’ Rhett Mcleod, Ray Fetu, Paulo Saio and Savenaca Relieqe all scoring doubles while the Goats’ Craig Henderson scored both the Gladstone tries.
The highly-anticipated match between the Frenchville side against the Colts Rugby Club saw the reigning champions score a massive win over the former top team in the competition.
Jackson Cheesman scored a hattrick for the Pioneers while Joe Schottelius notched up a brace in the important win.
That victory dropped the Colts from top spot allowing Frenchville to leapfrog them to the top of the A Grade competition, giving us a brand new league leader.
And in the final A Grade competition matchup, the Drovers made a statement by embarrassing the Cap Coast Crocs.
Drovers won 92-0 in the largest victory this year which was amplified by Ben Anderson scoring five tries in that win.
Darcy McKenzie also scored a double and kicked a staggering 11 goals for his side in that massive win on the club’s ladies’ day.
This weekend in A Grade the Frenchville Pioneers look to keep their streak running when they face the Gladstone Goats in Mount Morgan.
The former top team Colts will challenge the Cap Coast Crocs at home with the sides hoping to restart after a tough week.
And finally the Rockhampton Brothers will collide with the Dawson Valley Drovers at Tom Nutley Field.
Both sides are coming off those huge victories so it will be down to who’s defensive efforts are better.
In the reserve grade competition, the Biloela Cockatoos remain perfect after scoring their ninth win this season.
That came at the expense of Frenchville’s B grade squad with the Cockatoos winning 36-0.
The Colts reserve grade team overcame the Mount Morgan Lorikeets on Saturday to pick up a second win in the competition.
The side won 22-14 in an extremely tight match at Ryan Park.
This week the Lorikeets return to their nest of Newman Oval to collide with the Frenchville men’s B Grade side.
That leaves the Biloela Cockatoos travelling to Colts’ home ground to face off with their reserve grade side.
The Women’s sevens competition will see the Biloela Cockatiels take on the Cap Coast Crocs and the Frenchville women collide with the Brothers women.
