Four appear in court after alleged street brawl

Four adults who were allegedly involved in a large street brawl in New Auckland last Tuesday night have all appeared in Gladstone Magistrates Court.

Two men, a 23-year-old from New Auckland and 21-year-old from West Gladstone and two women, a 25-year-old from New Auckland and a 19-year-old from West Gladstone, appeared in court last Thursday and Friday.

Their charges surfaced from an alleged incident at a Shaw Street address around midnight on Tuesday night.

All four were charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a weapon and three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed.Police allege they separated a large physical altercation in which blunt weapons were allegedly used against four people.

Two men sustained serious injuries to their heads and upper bodies and were taken to Gladstone Hospital for treatment.

Two women were also transported to Gladstone Hospital with minor injuries.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said the people involved in the altercation were known to each other.

The 23-year-old man and 21-year-old man had their matters adjourned until February 1, 2022 in Gladstone Magistrates Court last Thursday.

While the 25-year-old woman was denied bail last Friday and is remanded in custody until February 1, when a brief of evidence will be finalised by the prosecution.
