Birds of Boyne and Tannum with Bob Trask
This week’s image shows the ‘dark morph’ of the Eastern Reef Egret
Light and dark morph egrets interbreed producing either one or the other coloured birds.
The reason for this, as yet, remains unknown. The female lays two to three eggs and both parents share the nesting and parenting duties.
The adults are about 60cm long and stand around 100cm high.
